DO YOU WANT TO HAVE A
GREAT CARPET CLEANING COMPANY?
Have you ever wondered why some people seem to have a knack for building a great
company and others simply do not? What do they know that you and I don't know?
After all, I am a certified cleaner and I know my business better than anyone I
know. Why can't I grow my business like some of the other successful businesses
that have been around so long? And besides, they all charge their customers much
more for their service than I do.
Many good carpet cleaners find themselves in the position of just making ends
meet. They work their tails off and at the end of the week they are lucky to
have enough money left to pay themselves. So what's the deal! How can we improve
this situation?
The key to running and managing a great company is to FIRST LEARN HOW TO MAKE A
PROFIT! Because if you don't make a profit, it is impossible to build a great
company.
Learn to give the customer what he or she wants (and they all don't want the
cheapest price). You only think that you have to compete by charging the lowest
price around. In reality, only about a third of your customers will buy the
cheapest price. The truth is that you'll never build a successful company on the
cheapest price concept. Why? Because all these customers who bought from you are
not really YOUR customers. No, they belong to the carpet cleaner running the
lowest coupon price the next time they need their carpets cleaned.
Your customers want the best quality at a fair and honest price, If they are
convinced that you gave them this kind of service, they will become customers
for life. Now you can start focusing on building your business with customers
who care about you and your great service, not your price.
When you try to build your business on price alone, two things will happen. One,
you will never have enough money to pay for good employees and to buy better
equipment, and two, you will always be stressed out because you are always
trying to catch up on you past due payments.
Do yourself a big favor and take the time to analyze your financial situation.
Look at your profit per job and see what would have been the results if you only
made an extra $10 or $20 (or even $50) per job. It can be a substantial
difference! You'll also be surprised to find out that if you make more profits,
you'll also make a better carpet cleaner. You will treat your customers
better because you feel better about yourself and about what you do. It is no
fun to break your back all week just to find out that you didn't make enough to
cover your bills. LEARN TO MAKE A PROFIT! You need profits to set aside funds
for retirement plans (for both you and your employees), hospitalization and
education plans and vacations. You are not just working for an hourly wage. If
you were, why not just work for someone else and not worry about running a
business, too. You need to make PROFITS to truly run a successful business.
